Check out the Altoona N scale Weekend shots that Mike Wong puts up, every year he takes some Thurmond shots.  He did another big album this year.

That remains as one of my all-time modules, hands down.

I’ve got a few somewhere. They are one of the clubs locally for me. They have a show in Huntington, WV thanksgiving weekend. I am not on Facebook but you might find some pictures on their clubs page.

That is actually a set of 2 four foot modules. They were built by the late Paul Fulks back in 1990. I have been a member of that group since 1988.

I have a video of it on my phone but no pics.

They are built like a tank, popular framing and alot of plaster!! All of the structures are scratch built. He took a trip to Thurmond to sketch the buildings and measure them. Some of the modules were built as long ago as 1975. Paul was an excellent modeler and even better person. Really miss him.

Now that I know which modules you're discussing, I've also seen them numerous times.  They're regular visitors to the local shows, and always attract a good crowd.  I didn't realize that they were this old, or that the builder was no longer with us.

I remember that. It was absolutely groundbreaking at the time. Really redefined what could be done with the NTRAK format.

It still inspires me today, from my "incorrectly done" TTRAK modules depicting beaten up industrial trackage, to the ridiculous idea I just had yesterday to do this as Freemo.

While seeing an ALCO switcher with a cut a cars through that Freemo scene would be pretty homely, seeing GEVOs on a stack train going right through someone’s backyard in that scene would be down right entertaining!

The Stew is sort of the prototype scrappy branchline survivor I always have in the back of my mind when I think about what to model next.  Somewhere in the Twilight Zone, the Stew cut all the way through to Fawn Grove for an interchange with the Ma & Pa.  Can you just imagine how light the traffic would have been at that spot in 1968?
I wouldn't even have to buy rolling stock!
