N Scale Rivarossi spare parts

I seem to recall that at one stage there was someone that had a lot of N scale Rivarossi parts for sale, am I living a dream or is there still such a supplier.

Would Con-Cor still have some parts leftover?  They were selling and servicing many Rivarossi models (like steam locos) back in the last Century.    Arnold also seemed to acquire some Rivarossi molds (like the heavyweight cars).  Arnold is now own ed by Hornby.  Not sure about the status of their Rivarossi stock.

   Ted, I have two 0-8-0 switchers (with short tenders), a 2-8-2 (with short tender). plus part of a mikado long vandy tender all good for parts.  The locomotives are complete and the 0-8-0s seem to have good motors, but the mikado motor is iffy.  Also, I have one SP mikado with long vandy tender and one GN berkshire that run good.  All of these are Rivarossi (Italy) made and have decent traction tires.  There are no boxes since I got the lot at an estate garage sale a few years back.  I am a diesel man and need the extra storage space more than these Rivarossi locos.  The ConCor Rivarossi berkshire even has brake hanger detail.  If interested, I will send photos and bargain price the lot, or price out the parts locos separately at your choice.  Otherwise, as time permits, I will offer the lot in the Trading Post portion of this forum.  USPS priority shipping will be added, plus shipping to lower 48 USA only.

Also note the @mmagliaro may still be rebuilding RR motors to be exceptional for a nominal (IMHO) fee if a motor is what you need.

There was a guy a few years ago on EBay that had tons of Rivarossi parts. He was in poor health and may even have passed away.
Dave Widenhoffer aka Big Dave’s Trains, EBay username dmwrr526 was familiar with the other seller and may know of or even acquired remaining inventory. You may be able to contact him through EBay messenger.
I haven’t dealt with Dave for quite a while but he was super helpful when I did.

There are some parts being offered on eBay from time to time, but often at outrageous prices.  Better to put up a "WTB" post on the Railwire Trading Post for a parts loco to match whatever you are trying to repair. You might get it for what you would pay for the shell on eBay.

@Teditor - What parts are you looking for? 

I bought a box of miscellaneous parts on eBay a few years ago, because included were a couple complete Kato F unit chassis.  Problem is, I don't know what brands or models most of the other parts came from- although other than the Katos, everything appears to be 60s-70s manufacture. Lots of loose axles, gears, various metal and plastic bits- steam and diesel....

I scrapped out three Pacifics to build my PRR D16, one with a 'pested' frame, another with a burned motor, etc.  And as an 'original' N scaler going back to 1972, and a pack rat, I have quite a collection of obsolete stuff.

So I have bags of parts for the 2-8-2/4-6-2 now, identify what you need, PM me.

And yes, I am still rebuilding those Rivarossi motors with super armatures and custom magnets for $30 ea, if you need a motor (a motor that won't melt down, will run better than the original, and will drop right back in to the original location).

The fellow you are referring to who had lots of Rivarossi parts, and sold them on eBay from time to time, was Bob Rufe, who operated under the name "Bob's Train Repair", from Plumsteadville, PA.  I remember all this because I met him at train shows several times when I lived in Pennsylvania, and he had a very colorful and interesting relationship with Tom Jackson who operated briefly under the name, "Black River Locomotive Works" in the 1990s, making some N Scale PRR quasi-prototypes using Bob's Atlas/Rivarossi parts and his own cast pewter boilers and frames.

I do not know if Bob has parts or is even still alive.  I have not had contact with him for many years.

I bought a lot of parts from Bob years ago at the Timonium shows. Like Max, I haven't seen him for many years now. He had a lot of early run Atlas parts. I heard that at one time he was doing warranty repairs for ATLAS and had their stock of parts.

I don't remember him saying he did warranty work for them, but that would make perfect sense.
I also chatted with him when I went to the Timonium shows.  Man... Good times.
I do remember him saying that when Atlas divested themselves of all the remaining stock of N Scale Rivarossi engines and parts, he made them an offer and bought them up.

Thanks for your reply, I am mainly after a rear set of drivers for a Big Boy, but have several Rivarossi locos, unfortunately I am Down under, postage can be prohibitive.

Didn't get the name, but there was a vendor at Timonium that had a huge amount of Minitrix and what I thought was Atlas and Rivarossi spare parts.

Ted, I hope that you find what you need.  N scale steam is difficult for me to repair, so I commend anyone courageous enough to tackle it.  That is one of the main reasons I am a diesel guy.
