Rapido N scale EMD E8/9????

In the NYC Modeler I received today, page 16 showed and upcoming Rapido E8/9 in N scale. I have not seen an announcement from Rapido. I wonder if the N scale was a typo?  Says it is due second quarter 2023. As with the HO version, it mentions prototype-specific variations. I’m sure this will be a great addition, but something we don’t already have would be nice also.

Doug,
I saw the same thing when I looked at the magazine today, and I'm sure it's a typo.  I think it was supposed to get listed under HO locomotives.  I'm going to drop an email to the editor to let him know, otherwise he could have quite a barrage of emails on his hands...

Given all the issues they had with the Canadian  E units, I don't believe there will be long lines waiting to purchase a NYC E unit until it has been proven road worthy, regardless of scale.

Did you mean F units for the Canadian?  What issues did they have?

If it's in print it could be a typo. If it's on the internet it must be true.

Sounds like the E units are too short, and don't have enough port holes....

In any case, could also be that Kato or BLI is doing a run, and that is where the typo is.

I was referring to the coffee grinder noise mentioned by several folks.  I recall a video on how to fix it which required what to me seemed like a lot of disassembly for an expensive locomotive. (And of course, I can no longer find the video).

Found it !

The NYCSHS Store has green Rapido E8s in HO for early 2023 arrival - I'm guessing these are the models in the mag.  No Rapido for N scale listed at their store.

Given the fidelity and quality of the Rapido locos, there is still room for a high level E8/9 IN N Scale.

The prototype range of Road Names, Road Numbers, and Paint Scemes is broad so many have yet to be done, especially with state of the art tooling and detail.  All are at least a decade, some much older products.
I would have to replace examples of all of these….so tempt me!!

Oh man. I'd probably get in trouble with an eventual Conrail exec set if they ever did them.

Or even more trouble if they did the 4022 in blue.
