Is the Y6B what Life Like did?

Oh man. A 70” drivered 4-8-4. So many possibilities! I’ll be getting one to use as is, but I’ll also be getting a few to kit-bash. Excited for the Y6b too, heaven help me if they make an A as well!

Really excited for these releases.  It has been a little while since BLI did road-specific steam locos, they were on a USRA Mike and Pacific kick for a while.

Hopefully the PRR steam releases will come in 2023 and 2024.

Is the Y6B what Life Like did?

Nope. Lifelike did the Y3 (WW1 era design). Y6b is an evolution of that same design, but extremely powerful and some visual differences.

Model Rectifier Corporation (MRC) did the Y6b using Rowa.  Chas. Merzbach had a version of the Rowa engine available with a smoke unit.  Later Con-Cor had Rivarossi do a retooled mechanism version.  All were decent models given they were released at the dawn of N Scale….50-40 years ago!

In HO they offered AFT 1, and have been known to scale down the HO paint offerings as well as the locomotives. With any luck the answer will be "the one painted as AFT 1."

If that is not the case, you would want a Reading Rambles/excursion service unit, that is what the 2101 was before conversion to AFT service.

Yup. I still have three of the Rivarossi/Concor versions.

Yeah I like that version too but the earlier version is what I need. It's the right version for what they ran in New England.

They did the early (solid blue) version in HO too.  I'd be tempted by that, as it's the version I saw in person.
