What about arranging the livestock in a rectangular shape and connecting them on the inner sides so the connecting sprues aren’t visible? That way, each deck would have a single piece load - somewhat easy to handle - yet be able to support each other without the need for a base?

Not sure if I explained clearly… I’ll try to generate an image tomorrow.
