When good trips go “meh.”
Stopped in East Dubuque, IL for 2-1/2 hours yesterday watching a scrapyard fire burn. The mainlines are separated by about 100 yards here, with the scrapyard in between, so all traffic had to stop. The smoke plume is a mile away in this view.

@RockGp40

Nice. But, I wonder who had the idea first?

I had this one completed last year, had DCC added. It's been in the works for two years.

 :D [Nice. But, I wonder who had the idea first?]  Maybe Rock Island when bankrupt blue paint appeared?  Anyway, I took this one with film camera back in 1977 in Chickasha OK:

Good catch. But I was referring more to the model than the paint scheme.

 :)  Nice model!  Before Rock Island painted everthing light blue and white, they used red and yellow:

 :o  Oops, I think I get it now!  Phillip H posted a nice photo of the new Mississippi short line, Rock Island Rail.  They own a GP15-1 number 1106 (former C&NW 4411) painted in The Rock blue and white colors.  Rock Gp40 posted an interesting model that possibly predated the protype (real) GP15-1.  Correct me if I'm wrong.  Here is a photo of my reference material including the October 2020 Trains magazine:

Nope, that's it exactly. The original Rock Island never rostered any GP15-1s or GP30s, but they are two of my favorite locomotive types, so they exist in this crazy head of mine. Phillip and I are friends in real life.
