Ohio N Scale Weekend Still a Go in May!

went to the show today, about a 3 hour drive for us. Seems like there were fewer vendors than years past. We were not real pleased with the fact that someone offered to buy out complete inventories from the vendors and they sold their entire stock early in the morning. This did not leave very many options for the public to buy from. We understand that this is a business, and vendors are out to make a profit. We were really looking forward to this show for a quite of while and had hopes on spending a small fortune. Maybe next time.

Complete inventories from ALL the vendors?

No. Only one that I'm aware of. There were still plenty left. I know of a vendor with fresh inventory arriving this morning (Sunday).

Also, don't forget Spring Creek made the trek there from Nebraska. They have quite a nice selection, almost beating some inventories out there.

Rasputen is there with his custom vehicle line too. Where else can you find a Vistacruiser in N scale? Lots of very nice selections in his inventory to choose from.

Another vendor of note is selling custom 3D printed & painted vehicles. I had to have some of the grain trucks. Very well done.

Its true there are fewer vendors, I heard a couple didn't attend due to personal issues. But make no mistake, there are still plenty of trains to buy. I'm still debating on a few of those $10 micro trains cars...

Drove down from Cleveland Saturday morning and spent a very pleasant 3 or so hours just hanging out.  The weather was a beautiful 70 degrees & sunny.  A very laid back affair, which I think made it so enjoyable.  Spent some time chatting with @btrain and viewing his NKP Bellevue modules.  Pictures do not do it justice.  Also talked with w neal and inspected his most recent project.  Great fun.

I was there Saturday, and agree that there were fewer vendors than I had expected. I still managed to spend my budgeted amount with several vendors though.  In addition to vendors mentioned previously, there was one who had custom decals, resin loco shells, detail parts and T-Trak box kits.

It was nice to see new-to-me modules from folks who don't always make the trek to the "Bedford/Altoona/Who Knows Where Next Year" Weekends. N-Trak, T-Trak, Free-mo with op sessions - all good stuff. Also saw some friends who made the trip from NJ and Michigan.

After dropping me off at the entrance, The Tall Blonde went shopping for herself - and spent less than I did.  A win-win!

This T-Trak module of Prince, WV was stunning. Each structure is a faithful replica of the real thing, entirely scratch built.  The station interior is even equipped with a mural of a coal mine, just like the real thing!

Thanks to all who made the trip on such short notice. We were not sure we would be having the show again this year back on March 1st. But local restrictions loosened a bit back then enabling us to be able to hold the event without the Saturday night meal or any other food service. We hope everyone had enjoyed themselves catching up with old friends and making new ones in the process.
We look forward to 2022 and seeing everyone then. Safe travels to those heading home.

I've been through Prince several times, on the New River train, and always thought that station looked rather out of place.  Was there really enough traffic to justify it, even before Amtrak took over?  Or did some local coal baron put up the money?

The Art Deco station at Prince was part of the C&O's plan to fit in with the anticipated rise of passenger traffic after WWII.  It serves the nearby city of Beckley, WV.  After they realized that passenger traffic was not going to be what they thought, this was the only one built to that design.

I can guess that Prince was on the next-up list to have it's wooden station rebuilt, so that could be why they chose this location.

Obviously I'm biased. I would however like to thank the gang at Central Ohio N Trak for their efforts. We all really needed an anti -virtual event like this badly. Great job guys!!

This Prince, WV module was built by Craig Laing, of Athens, TN.
Craig travelled to the NMRA NTS in Salt Lake City, in 2019, to participate in the National T-TRAK Layout there.
His module received the NMRA Judges Award.
  Great module and a great guy!
