Thanks, @jargonlet , that's great info!  I could definitely use a K5 for shared through runs with the P&LE, so hoping to plausibly keep the modifications to some added detail.

Yes some are complete foobs. The Great Northern’s only USRA locos were 12 Mikados that they were forced to buy. No USRA Pacifics but BLI is producing them.

So is the Canadian Pacific ‘passenger’ scheme. Puts a bug in the brain though; CP’s G3 Pacifics had 75” drivers vs 73 (I think) on the USRA light Pacific. 75” drivers on their Hudsons as well. I’d need enclosed cabs, new tenders and a bunch of stuff I haven’t thought about yet. I’ve stayed out of the steam game until now...

Same with the Milwaukee. I don't know if there will ever be a correct 4-6-2 for the Milwaukee. I would like the have the engines for the Chippewa and these will probably be the only option.

From everything I've heard here and elsewhere these sound like they are a good value.

You're thinking the same way I am, but I'm worried the drivers are going to be too small for MILW.

Heads up for any last preorders - Factory Direct Hobbies (BLI sales arm) has an arrival date of April 12 for the Pacifics, so looks like these guys are going to be in people's hands in about three weeks.

It ran smooth and pretty good at slow speed right out of the box.  It sounds like the bell and whistle sounds are updated and improved.  I do worry about the long-term stability of the decoder but I guess I can wait until it breaks to think about a replacement, at least for now.  @jargonlet , look for a PM to pick your brain on mods, and thanks in advance for the help!

They look nice, hopefully those new Paragon 4 decoders work really well.

These have Paragon3 decoders according to BLI's website. The next runs of SD40-2's and NW2/SW7's are listed as having Paragon4.
