New Version, PBS Newshour BNSF Sponsorship Commercial

For those who might have noticed in the past, oh, 10 years or so, BNSF is a sponsor of PBS Newshour, and once or twice a week their "commercial" consisting mostly of historic film clips leads the broadcast. To my surprise they have a new version as of this week. Some of the old footage is incorporated from the original montage, but there are new and different clips with a lot more railfan appeal.

The brace of SD45s in predecessor paint at 1:12 especially got my attention.

Yes, I noticed that yesterday and thought there were some nice shots.  My guess is the reason they re-worked their video was to remove the coal train in the earlier version.  Even the railroads are moving away from coal.  Part of their PR effort to have a modern image.

You are absolutely right - the four or five clips of coal trains were removed. Interesting!
