I am not clear on what the crossing gates were doing in that video.  It looks like there are crossing gates coming down across all lanes, but on the other side of the tracks.  The only crossing indication on the truck's side of the road on the truck's side of the tracks is a flasher.  More confusing, the truck seems to have turned onto a road before getting to the lowered gate, but was not able to finish the turn because a car is in the way on the road going off to the side.  Even more confusing, as the truck is trying to make that turn, I can see another gate arm going up just to the right of the truck.

Does anybody on here have a Google Maps view of this intersection?

Oh, if only that trucker would have bailed out of that right-hand turn as soon as he saw that car sitting there blocking his way and, instead, gone straight.  Things might have ended differently.

Well, there was a gate there when he drove through them.  His rig was bending the heck out of the RH one before he got hit.
If you look at the google street view you can see where it was mounted.

Thanks for the Google street view.  It was hard for me to make out that the truck was actually bending the crossing gate.

The side street also has a curb median barrier on it which also restricts the turn. Actually  making the maneuver  is difficult  under the best of conditions .  Other intersections  at this street have a lot of broken curbs because  of trucks running over them while  turning.

Was in the boardroom when Alexey got back from rescuing Bianca from that one.  It tore up the front end of the locomotive pretty good.  Salem is a hot spot for trains vs. vehicles and people.  When I used to work the south end it was rare to have a trip without a near miss.
