The gear in question measures like this -14 teeth.3 mm bore5.7 mm diameter.NWSL has a similar gear but with a 6mm diameter. I don't know if that would be an option.How important is the pitch on a gear this thin (1.5mm)?Jason

Are you sure it's really 1.5mm (.0595"), or could it be .051" like this replacement?If the replacement is a little thin, you might have to put some shim washers on either side to keep it centered, depending on how it's mounted in there (I have no idea how this assembly looks).
I would think that pitch is critical for any meshing gears. All gears meshing with each other need to be the same pitch.
The image shows what I got from NWSL. Inside the package, the replacement is on the left, and on the right is one of the split-originals (the split is why it looks slightly larger). I will also try to post my sketch of the exploded gear tower.
In general, I agree. I bet the NWSL worm wheel is made with the same pitch as the worm in that loco. If it were my brass loco, I'd take a shot and expect a good chance of success.
Just "in general"? As I understand it, the pitch of a gear defines spacing between its teeth. If there is even slight mismatch betwween the gears, the teeth will not fully or properly engage. Even it the combination works, it will likely wear out prematurely.Also, I think that gear pitches follow some predefined specs. While there might be some unusual pitch values, in general the majority of the gears fall into one of those often used pitch values.
