GHB Boo Rim N scale NYC Dreyfuss Hudson

In the new NYCHS modelers quarterly, they mentioned they are (and I quote) " discussion with Boo Rim Precision of
S. Korea, one of the best ultra-high quality brass
locomotive manufacturers for a new N scale
steam locomotive model", the Hudson Dreyfuss.

Just figured Id post in case no one else has seen it yet.

Huh... $2000 (guessing) for something that Bachmann will likely produce in a year or 2 for $500....

Maybe focus on something a little more obscure.. (J3 Super Hudson, or something along those lines).

I have the brass Key Imports (Samhongsa) model sold back in the '90s. The 1940s version. Paid $740 for it.  A matching rake of 20th Century Ltd. brass passenger cars was also offered, but way over my budget.  I wonder if this will be the same model, or a brand new design?

Boo Rim Precision's DMIR Yellowstone was a true work of art and runs like a fine Swiss watch.

It will be a great model if this comes to pass.

Did the NYCSHS ever contact Kato to discuss producing the Dreyfuss Hudson?
That loco placed first in a poll that Kato posted to their website.
Yet, the UP Big Boy will be the next new steamer they produce.
At the rate Kato works, it could be close to 2030 before they get around to making the Hudson - if ever.

I have a saved search in eBay looking for "century limited", but it did not pick this one up.   Found it - they didn't mention "limited" in the listing. Silly!

That price is for the loco and just six cars.

I'm one of the many people watching this auction.

He went through a cycle with no sale.  But the interesting (and humorous) thing is that he first listed it at $3,000.

So when it did not sell at that price, he RAISED the price.   

Now, if he eventually puts best offer on it, he can sell it for 3,000 and look like he came down.

Yes, sellers on eBay try all sorts of methods to get the money they want.

Sounds like when I was looking for a new car. Lots would lower the price and then jack it back up so it looks like they lowered it again.

After the PRR L1 fiasco, I'm surprised that GHB still has the stomach for brass loco projects. George told me that that one damned near wiped him out.

I suspect that's why they won't be made in China this time; Boo Rim has a reputation and will likely be a safer investment.

It's a shame they have that reputation now, though. I have two of the refurbished L1's and they are great-running locomotives (if not a little light).

I like my L1 beautiful engine but pulling power is light. Still great engine.
