I took a break from model building this week and enjoyed some running on the layout between op sessions, which I have to say I have not done too often.
I enjoyed a solo op session doing the autumn yard job at Dawson Creek, setting out the cars which had been brought up during the recent op session. I committed to scale speed operations and stopping to throw turnouts, resulting in a 75 minute session. I managed to grab a few cell phone images as I went.
RS-3 567 begins to set out cars brought up from Chetwynd:
A pair of empty CP and CN boxcars will be set out for interchange to the NAR:
Lumber boxcars and woodchip cars will be taken to the NWP mill for set out:
Three grain boxcars are set out at the Alberta Wheat Pool elevator. The other boxcar and slab side hopper will be set out at other elevators in town:
Last weekend I finished building my nine Railwest chip cars, and after installing couplers, trucks and wheels I was able to take them for a test run:
They ran well and are now ready to go to the paint shop.
Finally, on Thursday Hannah and Dan from PWRS/NARC came over with the latest pre-production samples for their forthcoming NSC combination door boxcars. After posing them for some product photography, we took them for a test run:
