I've been building structures for the N scale Colorado Midland 2.0.  This is this week's progress:

Wild West Scale Models Kokomo House.  The prototype for this structure now rests at the bottom of the tailings pond for the Climax Molybdenum Mine.  These Wild West Scale Models kits are pretty amazing.  However, they're far from an easy build.  I counted something like 37 pieces goinginto that front wall alone.  I built it in about 2 days.

My Wild West Miner's Exchange structure did not survive transplant.  It had issues anyway...it was the first of the WWSM kits I'd built and I didn't reinforce it well.  Back when I first installed it I flooded the scenery around it with alcohol presoak and the walls wicked it right up and warped so bad the walls popped and curled.  I had to hide it with trees, LOL.  So no great loss.   Glad the little orange Last Chance Saloon came out just fine.  Anyway, I'm planning out the upper-level town (which will still represent Aspen):

A Monroe Models "Hickson Depot" kit stands in for the Aspen depot while the Woodland Scenics depot I had been using for Aspen has been promoted to being the Basalt depot.

Bridge bits...including a refurbished (and re-truss-rodded...if that's a word) truss bridge:

Oh, and a Wild West Scale Models "Don's Dry Goods" kit as the Basalt railroad hotel.  Hundreds of pieces went into this structure from individual stair risers and individual window panes to individual roof rafters and individual shingles.

And lastly, steam locomotives are thirsty beasts. And with two separate track loops on the new layout (along with two depots), the situation cried out for another water tank. The one on the left is from the original layout built in January 2015 from a Tichy Train Group kit. The one on the right is the identical kit, built today in just under three hours.

Ha! I remember those rotating TV antennas. Pretty state-of-the-art and high-tech back in the 70's.

Briggs PGE Caboose #1817 finally ready for service.

Will swap out the trucks for something a bit more prototypical once I get the parts in.

Unable to source a supplier of Milwaukee Road orange paint here in the UK I decided to have a go at mixing Tamiya X6 orange and XF10 flat brown. I finally settled with a ratio of 120 parts orange to 1 part brown.

Close enough to my eye and a good starting point for adding various colours to give variation in the fleet.

It's not a commitment until you buy 121 bottles of paint.  :)

When you loose count at around 115 drops and have to start again...

If buying a Trainworx tanker truck and plunking it down on my layout counts as modeling, then I guess I had a productive week  :P

Briggs PGE Caboose #1817 finally ready for service.

Andy:  Congratulations on finishing your caboose build - looks good.  My models of 1813 and 1819 are still in Portland as I cannot cross the border to pick them up.  :x

Over on the Dawson Creek Subdivision, we returned to revenue operations last night after a five month shutdown.  Fellow N Scale BCR modellers Nolan and Philippe came over to participate in Op Session #21.  Numerous precautions were taken including an air cleaner for improve air movement in the room, use of disinfectant wipes to clean control panels and throttles, reduction of crew by one operator, and physical distancing where possible:

The seasonal yard job at Dawson Creek has been reinstated for the fall grain rush.  PGE 567 is pulling cars from the Northwest Wood Preservers mill at Dawson Creek:

804 and 632 have the 15 car Dawson Creek Switcher well in hand as they motor through Tremblay en route to Dawson Creek:

807 and recently repainted 810 return to Chetwynd with the Septimus Turn while RS-3 570 takes a break from switching duties:

Power "on shed" at Chetwynd toward the end of the session:

We concluded the evening with a cream tea:  homemade scones, homemade clotted cream, homemade strawberry jam, and a good cup of tea.

The paint we had in the storeroom in Milwaukee didn't even match. I wouldn't be too concerned as long as its close. We got boxcar loads of paint from the storerooms in Tacoma when they closed the West end, not even close to what we had in Milwaukee.

Tim, where the heck did you find those Lysol wipes.  There are none around here since April!  They are more scarce that toilet paper!
