Beautiful job as always.   I started working on my S2 now after finishing the S1.  Using the Bachmann J as well.  I was giving thought about the distance between drivers 2 & 3 per real loco. I removed the plastic break shoes from both sides between both those two drivers and it makes for an illusion of more space between as is on the full size engine even though I didn't spread out the wheels. That's my start besides striping the J1 chassis.

What I like about this effort is that you didn't try to bite off a lot of detail in a media (RP) that couldn't handle it.   All the jewelry and detail was add-on, metal where you could.   That's what gets an A+ here, not enough designers go that way.
