The Speedrail company had seven Cincinnati curveside cars, I decided that since it is a small fleet I would build all of them.

So I am on the last of seven cars ( car 63), Doing the LAST decal and I ruined the decal ! It was my last decal....

Without explanation it is possible to pin down a location and a timeframe. This is why I often say that trolleys are conspicuous by their absence on transition era layouts.

The trolleys could still be running at a museum today.
But, the Erie-Built limits it to 1963, or earlier.
Then, the loco's paint scheme further narrows it down to sometime between the late 1940s and the early 1950s.

If the line had street running, you could always "weather" up the errant decal and imagine the car was struck by an automobile, or suffered some other mishap...

The decal I ruined is the Speedrail on the letterboard. I thought about leaving them off as they were painted out after a fatal wreck on labor day 1950. I want to show the railway in happier times.

I'd have to really mangle the car in order to scrape up the letterboard.

I generally save myself the "last decal" aggravation described by sd45elect2000, by botching the job earlier in the process.  Usually somewhere between "open the box, making sure no small parts fall out" and "sand this seam carefully or rivet detail will be damaged".
