The Curve

We are off Friday so I'm taking a cycle ride out to The Cruve. Leaving 5am will put me there at 9.  Hang around a little while then go downtown to eyeball the K4 progress and try to find out where they have the chassis and wheels hiding.  I can never get a straight answer from the staff.     Then it's back to mom's up in RDG for chow and then back home to Newark, DE. Should be around 550 mile ride.

Sounds like a long day of driving.  I'm curious about the progress on the K4.  I was there 2-3 years ago.  Someone left the door unlocked and I just wandered into the roundhouse and snapped some pics of the pieces of the loco.  It will take a lot of work and $$$ to get that back together.

I'll post what I see. It's usually open when the museum is open. Two years ago i went and made sure i had a flashlight. I climbed inside the tender to see the baffles in there plus the water scoop but the square hole on the tender deck was blanked off where the scoop would have been. I think the last photos I seen that someone else posted showed a stack of flue pipe on a skid. That tells me they are going to build her to run. Why replace all the tubes if she's just rebuilt for display. The the tubes are expensive.
