Alternative Kato lighting kit

Found this on another train forum.  Two brightness switchable, capacitor built in, three color temperatures (don't know if user selectable or you have to indicate when purchasing).  Also distributed LEDs instead one bright one at the end with light distributed by a light bar.

The bank of capacitors looks cool!  But they seem to limit the emission angle of the LEDs nested between them. I would have placed the caps on the other side of the board (since there is ample clearance between roof and the light board).

The switch is only for brightness (and made by Alps!).  :)  You have to request color temperature.  Not only there is some weak English, the seller is a noob.

I might just get these - I have a 12-car Kato ICE 4 set to  light up.

And if someone wants to roll their own, our own @craigolio1  came up with one in https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=29654.0

I bought one but was contacted that they are out of stock (even though the listing showed 3 available) and that it will take about a week for the batch to be produced.  I guess I'll wait.

Shipping out of Hong Kong seems like it might not remain an option for long, given the current trend in international politics.

Well, I was willing to wait for the shipment (when they first asked me), but they ended  up canceling my order and refunding my payment.  :RUEffinKiddingMe:
