PRR N2

Something i made last year using the Concor 2-10-2 with a lot of mods and a Soundtraxx Tsunami 2 decoder.  Keystone Details 3D parts. Built up the tender coal bunker sides and made a dog house for the water deck.  Purchased a pilot from BLI for a M1 but had to mod that as well. Made the Belpaire firebox by placing two pieces of tungsten rods on either side of the boiler then building it up with Bondo.   I place tungsten anywhere possible to add weight.  For such a mighty looking engine they don't pull very much. But after i crammed tungsten bars under the shell she has a lot more weight and can pull 35 empty hoppers up my 1.34 grades.
Also used GMM pe for added details and Tru-color paint.  With the Tsunami 2 she can craw along or move out to around a scale 40mph.   I'll doublehead her with a L1 for 50 cars. I'm sure i'm forgetting some details here.

Man that looks great! Don't see too many of those around. I think @71jeep did one a few years ago, maybe?

Here's a Clerihew about Ed. K.

Every night, he plants a new tree.
But mention his law
and you've pulled your last straw!

Alternate version:
Ed Kapucinski
Every night, he plants a new tree.
He asks excitedly "Did you say Ménage à Trois?"
No, I said "Ed's Law."

Thank you.  Another project using one of those Concor 2-10-2s will be making a Reading K1. I have a T1 in the making, slowly due to my real hobby work. Ship model commission work and brass propellers.  Glad you guys enjoyed this one.

That looks really nice.  You got a GREAT contour on that Belpaire firebox.  It's not just a rectangular box!  I like how you've captured the way the sides tip in a little as it comes up from the walkways.

I know people grouse about the wider-than-necessary driver spacing on those Con-Cor 2-10-2's.  For me, the bigger issues are the spotty tender pickup and the way the drivers can get hung up in their bearings as they slide back and forth when the engine goes in and out of curves.  If you gauge the drivers to the correct width (they come narrow from the factory), this problem becomes worse.  But if you add some washers to limit the lateral movement to correct this, and fix the tender pickups, these things becomes really smooth, nice-running engines.  I've got one in a box that is destined to become a GN 2-10-2 some day.

Thank you, I'm glad you noticed that about the box. Many don't but it is a small detail many over look. You're correct about the wheel spacing as well and i did have some tender pick up issues but i  found the more i ran it the better it runs.  I purchased this one and two others in a mater of six months and not so long ago. They were brand new in a collection just sitting around never run.
For many Reading engines you can use a lot of parts from that early Bachmann 2-8-0 that runs horrible.  Bachmann did get the loco shell very very close to the I10.
