Experiment
« on: January 30, 2020, 05:28:29 PM »
I'm currently running an experiment on this site. If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't worry - it doesn't apply to you (but I think you're a wonderful person and I thank you).  :tommann:

It sucks, Tom. I won't reveal what it is you are trying, but the default config in Firefox with [X] makes it difficult to manage [Y] yet let [Z] through.

Hint: Google can go f--- themselves. If the objective is to chase me off the site, then prevent me from controlling their access to my computer. Kapish?

The upgrade only affects Railwire Gold members.  Faster access to mail-order brides.

FWIW, what I've noticed recently is that the vertical spacing between lines of text has become overly-compressed.  Makes things pretty hard to read, actually.

If you mean the window which pops up from BlockAdblock to turn off Adblock I am not amused either. If the ads
were hobby related I wouldn't mind too much, but this is stuff I have no use for whatsoever.

I seem to have a way around this annoying feature.
I also would be willing to have this forum as pay-to-play service (unless the subscription fees were unreasonably high).

Hey, Tom...

If this "experiment" is being driven by increased costs to run the site due to bandwidth and storage fees, I think we already have the answer: Plaid Membership. We may joke about "Plaid", but if it is the case that your generosity in hosting user photos has exacted an unacceptable toll, a reasonably-priced paid membership for the privilege of hosting images may be a way to recoup the direct costs. I don't know how this would affect (or not) the SMF license, but it might be worth considering.

I have no idea what this experiment is about.  Nothing is different on my system and I don't use ad blockers.
