Small portable spray booth?

But it really doesn't contain just basically protects the surface you're spraying on. A fan would pull all the over spray into it. I planned to get the one shown above on amazon, but never did. I'm ghetto and spray into/over a garbage can. When I'm done my nose hair is still the paint color  If I paint a lot I need to sweep up the over spray around the can.

You can make all sorts of booths using a furnace filter and an exhaust fan. Fan would be the most expensive part. I would vent it outside like the dryer is.

They are all the same thing from a ton of vendors but there are several packaging options.  Without the duct hose or especially without the lights.  I have the lights and really like that option.  Here's the best price I've seen currently on the full deal, exhaust adapter and LED lights.   Don't think about it, just buy it.

The spec on the fan is 25% lower, 4CMM  to 3CMM.  The one in mine is just enough so I don't know how well that will work.  Plus, in general it doesn't look to be as nicely made, and no bright booth lights.  Looks like it should cost about 1/2 of the other one.

Also, so many of the first ones are out there and have been marketed by Pasche and some other bigger players that I suspect things like filter availability over the long haul will be more assured.  And no booth lights.

I think the point about not being intended for use with flammable materials needs a little more attention. 

It is not clear to me whether that is a "lawyered" warning like we see with the California boiler-plate on "Products containing materials known to the State of California ..."  or a real warning meaning that the fan is not protected against igniting flammable materials in the exhaust air stream.  Unless you are sure that nobody will ever use flammable solvent paints in the booth, it seems prudent to make sure that it is safe with that type of paint.  Ignition protected fans are made and are available.

I have been seeing household appliances made in China and sold in the U.S. that do not have any indication of safety testing by Underwriter's Laboratories or equivalent.  One rotary device just started seriously smoking while my wife was using it, so I have just been through the exercise of trying to find out who actually decided the design was safe enough.  As far as I could tell, nobody did. 

So, I think it is important to at least see a statement that something is suitable for the use we intend for it, rather than assuming it would not be for sale here if it wasn't "safe" for the unknowing user.

While I generally agree on the safety aspect, having done a lot of general chemistry and hazmat training over the years I am always frustrated by the idea that the only way to spray solvent paints in a booth is with a fan that can never spark and moves so much air that it could suck in a sail boat. Even with hours of continuous use our airbrushes rarely put out enough volume to exceed the MSDS levels for explosiveness in our solvent paints. It’s just not a thing, and while I appreciate the lawyerly warnings I think it’s mostly overblown.

As I mentioned upthread, I built a booth from Foamcore on a Saturday about twenty years ago that has a commonly available filter, with a bathroom exhaust fan that exhausts through dryer hose into a 5 Gallon bucket with another filter inside of it.
I've used just about every paint and thinner without issue.
I'll try to take some pictures and measurements this weekend if anyone is interested in it.

While it is not likely that an air brush is going to make a flammable mixture in the exhaust hose with a reasonable amount of airflow, that may not be true with rattle cans trying to paint something other than a model, or even somebody putting something washed in solvent in there to dry so that the smell goes outside.  And, there is always the potential for somebody to set something "smelly" in there and then turn on the fan, after the smell gets to them.  Trying to predict how people get themselves into trouble is far from a sure thing.  It is the "Dooh!" moments that usually cause the problems.

My friend has this unit (with LEDs), and I have used few times while helping in his layout construction. It works very well, and the lights also make airbrushing easier. Recommended!

I'd definitely go with a booth with exhaust .. I've got the big micro-mark triple filtration thing.. which I think..  makes exhaust optional..

But, I would recomend doing exhaust and the Ebay unit would be fine with that.
When we re-did vinyl siding in the new house, I had the guy put an extra dryer vent above the model desk for the exhaust.
