At the Port of Gavleston a few years back. I loved the weathered, rusty look. A cop took an interest in me taking an interest in the locomotive. I told him what I was doing and he just shook his head and walked away.

I never though about that.  Except for #141 (in some photos), the big interurbans on the WCF&N only had single poles so I guess they had to do it that way.

#141 was the Waverly car.  Not sure why sometimes it has one pole and others two.

If you see a picture of #100 with dual poles, that's after it was sold off.

I never though about that.  Except for #141 (in some photos), the big interurbans on the WCF&N only had single poles so I guess they had to do it that way.

First-hand aware of the issues. I was on the line crew at Orange Empire (Railway Museum) for a year or so, a long time ago. Nearly every Saturday was re-tensioning overhead from the trolley jockeys thinking they could outsmart physics by back-poling through frogs as their car went one way and the pole went another. Best case was they'd snag a guy and we'd fix it. Worst case was bending the pole and/or breaking the roof mount. Ugh.
