Things do not seem to be going well for NS lately.

I'm saving up just in case the ex-NYC observation car ever becomes a surplus item.

Sandy Creek is not actually owned by NS themselves, last I knew it was privately owned for Wick Moorman himself.
Attempting to model a modern Southern Pacific based in 2015/2016...

Also, I have a passenger train addiction...

Funny thing, Wick Moorman is an inlaw of the daughter of one of my bosses at my first ever job.
Thanks much,

Are the 4 'extra' Fs still on NS or did those get sold / scrapped already?

Those went to Cresson Steel back in December '16.

Ohh jeezz.. dont give them locomotives that operate, or one of the volunteers (which is so an engineer) will want to use them on his local job...

(Which would be really cool)..

Supposedly the issue is grade crossing safety...

With a lot of stored freight units, the F's were an extravagance...

We now know where two of them are going. The Reading & Northern announced today that they acquired A unit #270 and B unit #275.

Hmm... Now I wonder hoe Andy's gonna paint them.

The Reading Cigar Band would be classy but I could also see them in something LV inspired to match the passenger cars.

Then there's always something blue to match Thomas. I mean 425.

But no matter what scheme they end up in, I'm glad they found a good home.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see them pulling hoppers some time too. They're essentially GP38-2s inside, aren't they?

Between Ed’s new layout teaching me about the line and studying the existing roster, which apparently now includes two F-units, that Reading & Northern outfit is really growing on me.

Ed, I think you’re right about the NS F-units being upgraded to GP38-2s.

This lists the details of the work done to the 4 units.  http://www.altoonaworks.info/rebuilds/ns_funits.html

As mentioned, they are basically GP38-2's inside a F7 shell (even the A units which were labeled F9's from earlier upgrades started as F7's).
