New Atlas EVANS Coil Cars?

Their previous offering was IIRC a GSC car - are the cars now being offered perhaps the Red Caboose molds?  Didn't see any mention of "New Tooling"...educate me!

They're just the resurgence of the old Walthers coil cars.

Ah!  Senior moment, I guess.  I realized late last night that Walthers had the Evans cars - in fact I had a half dozen.  Sold 'em off because they didn't look as good as the RC cars.

For those that haven't heard or don't know, Matt's father-in-law, Ron Sebastian, who also ran Des Plaines Hobbies, passed away unexpectedly yesterday.  I am sure the family would appreciate a little bit of time to process this.

Sad news indeed, my thoughs and condolences go to Matt, who though I’ve never met has been extremely helpful in the past. Definitely not the time to bug him as they will need time to come to terms with events.

Just got a few of these.  Definitely the biggest disappointment I've had in a really long time.  Extremely crude tooling, poor detailing... more like a Thomas the Tank Train than any kind of real model

Save yourselves the money.  Wish I could return these.

Yeah these are non-upgraded models from Walthers. Should never have been in the "Master" line and certainly not similarly priced as BLMA models

Did they at least leave the coil shields removable? One of the craziest issues with the Walthers cars was that they had full interiors, then proceeded to GLUE the shields in place.

I think atlas could salvage the car by: thinning down the steps like Walthers did on their retooled GSC flats, new or retooled shields that have a lower profile and handrails, replace the plastic walkway with an etched one, adding body mount couplers and metal wheels. But after all that, what is left of the original model?

Isn't the P&LE car new?  Don't recall that one from the initial release...but it has been a bit
