Verde Canyon Railway

https://verdecanyonrr.com/ So here's my summation. I found this to be more of "Napa Valley Wine Train" and excursion line than an operating railroad.
The Grand Canyon Railway https://www.thetrain.com/ follows AT&SF operating practices and has more of a railroad feel, less of a party train MO. They
are both great and I love the scenery on the VCRR. One of the docents on the open cars told me the AT&SF never operated this line. They built it in 1912
to get access to the mine in Clarkdale. Love the shortline still operating the 38 miles from Drake to Clarkdale. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_Central_Railroad
The GCRR conductors and docents were more railroad versed than Verde.

If you do the verde canyon, you have to do the private caboose. It’s around $450 , but you get a steward, some wine and munchies, and it is a private car for six people. Pretty cool to sip champagne, sit in the cupola or back porch, and watch the world go by. The caboose is an ex ATSF car.
