AMERICAN Z LINE
February 2019 New Releases Part 1

NEW – Lightweight Passenger Cars and Corresponding EMD E8s!

American Z line is excited to announce the first series of lightweight passenger cars. The first release is for the iconic Union Pacific. These cars represent all new tooling. There are eight different body styles as part of the first release.
The cars are highly detailed with etched metal stirrups, flush window glazing, close coupling, and fine add-on details such as antennas. Each car is equipped with AZL’s AutoLatch TM couplers. One prototype specific detail that should be mentioned is the UP cars come with the green tinted glass that was typical of the prototype UP cars. The dome cars do include interior details.

The UP cars represent those cars that ran across the UP system. These cars could also be found on many of the named trains such as the City of Los Angeles, City of Portland and City of San Francisco. Also, a special note is that this run includes three cars for other railroads that intermixed with the UP. Look for a car from the Southern Pacific, C&NW and Wabash, all in UP yellow!

Finally, from deep in the AZL vaults, we have two early version UP EMD E8s. These are lacking the cooling shields above the vents. AZL has been waiting for the lightweight cars to release these E8s. Well the day is here!

Here is the first release. We will have many more road names in the months ahead:

Using original shells that we had on hand, AZL has upgraded these locomotives and can now offer a very limited run of each of the first run of road names. The rebuilt SD70Ms and SD75is feature a new chassis (as used in the 2014 run of SD70Ms and SD75is), new trucks, AZL’s standard PCB, upgraded directional controlled LEDs and AutoLatch TM couplers.

The final release is Norfolk Southern. Three road numbers are available:

6101-1 NS SD70M 2583

6101-2 NS SD70M 2584

6101-3 NS SD70M 2587

Supplies are very limited.

See the American Z Line sites for more information on these and other AZL products.

Rob,

Are any of the three New Haven schemes on the list for upcoming AAR 1937 Boxcar releases?
