Atlas has a SD60E coming as soon as the factory stuff gets settled.  I'd take theirs any day over ST.

C40-8/Ws

Conrail - high headlight low number boards
Post - merger FRA delete
CSX/UP - low number boards low headlights
ATSF - Gull wing
Standard cab?

SD70/75/M/I us very possible.... Kind of a slap in the face to  Athearn though - Shane's previous employer.
I like the look of the athearn model but UP never had a narrow cab sd70 so I won't buy one unless I could get the appropriate cab.  Scale trains will have the correct cab if that's what's being modeled and therefore my money.

Dash 9s or SD70M/I would definitely make my list to get a few in case I ever model the Upstate SC Norfolk Southern line

Guys, didn't the original announcement of the announcement say a never before offered locomotive in N scale? All those cab counts are nice, but haven't all those models been done, even if poorly, in N scale before?

All Shane said was all new HO and N scale locomotive. I'm guessing the new loco's are going to be what we've been speculating no idea what will be the second since Shane was a little hesitant about another SD40 in N. So as I'm listening to the announcement we'll know of one rivet counter and one operator class loco on Saturday and later this year a second operator class loco.

I think it was Rapido's pre-announcement of a coming announcement ithat included a hint that the locomotive had never been done in N scale before.

I thought the Athearns were numbered as SD60s, and Athearn even came out and said they were foobies.

It did not say never done before.

Ok, the C39s... they're beautiful. I've got two coming (that reminds me, need to go add my CC info), but... they're NOT the type of engine that even die-hard Conrail fans will buy in bulk.

If Scale Trains were an established manufacturer, I'd probably have just skipped them and waited for a deal on one someday down the road (like the IM SD45-2). They just weren't that prolific of a locomotive. Cool, but not common.

I was impressing on Shane the importance of "fleet" stuff. It's why the SD40-2 is a great model and it makes me sad that BLI sucked the air out of the room on them (at least for a little bit). It's like the carbon black cars vs BLMA's Top Gons. Nobody is gonna buy a 24 pack of the carbon black cars (well, except maybe @SAH ), but the Top Gons? If you need one you need a dozen.

Plenty of room for another SD40-2.

The Kato model is really dated and has annoying errors (number boards to thin, fat hoods, etc). The IM model has a nice shell but the chassis including the fuel tank is a miss. The BLI SD40-2 is the best SD40-2 in N scale yet but it is only early phase and you MUST pay for the sound.

So yeah, I would likely buy a ST SD40-2 if the phase meets my needs.

:D Not even I need 24 carbon black hoppers.

Oh, and the new locomotive will be a FM H20-44.   Makes complete sense.

Ha, interesting.  Let's see... (off the top of my head)

GE C44 (AC or DC)
- gull wing 3-window
- gull wing 4-window  (AC version only?)
- standard 3 window
- standard 4 window
- standard 3 window low number boards
- high headlight (NS)
- Canadian windows

SD70M
- door with window on the conductor's side (demonstrator)
- door with window on the engineer's side (SP, UP repaint, demonstrator)
- door without window on the engineer's side (UP)
- 'FIRE' cab
- SD70I

Well, they could either be doing the SD70M/I or short shrifting on something GE.  That doesn't narrow it down..   :D

GP30.....

A revamp long overdue in N scale, if I'm looking at the phases correctly there's five cabs once you account for the high hoods, at least one of the Scaletrains guys is rumored to be an early NS fanatic, and they have the SOU 2594 less than an hour away at TVRM to pull dimensions from...

Well, since I've been trying (unsuccessfully atm) to make a HH GP30, I'd go along with it. Gladly. Although I'm not far enough along for the, "if you build it they will mass produce it" effect to take place. Let's hope though.
