Things continue to get interesting with my locomotive roster as someone was auctioning all of the NYSW units that I've been looking for patiently.  Plus, they were both smooth running units outside of the box.  I can utilize the GP40 for the 2000s and the C420 for the 1980s.  I'm now in the process of auctioning my other recent locomotive acquisitions as a NYSW/Conrail Shared Assets Operations is really the focus that I want on my current layout and the next future layout (aka New Jersey).  It's taken 11 years to figure out that I need to represent Jersey on this and future layouts!  Plus NS and CSX units run on the NYSW, so I have some additional opportunities to run a little bit of everything  :D

Thanks!  Painted or un-painted?

There's a sleigh I should be able to print as well to make a little holiday set.  Haven't been able to find any elf models, yet...

Peteski and Daniel:  Given some of the unusual, and contorted, names I've seen for government agencies over the years, I could almost believe a "Deference Agency".  Or, more likely, I thought it might have been an inside joke by the staff.

The company I used to work for did work for banks, and one of our customers was Town Square Bank.  It wasn't uncommon to have people, including bank employees, refer to it as "Town Squirrel Bank".  For the record, it was a stable, locally owned, bank, and passed all of its annual audits with flying colors.

slow going on the bridge module , got a layer of plaster on the whole thing

and then trying the salt method to weather.  Used a brown beginning coat and a flat grey coat,  sprinkled salt on a wet solution and let dry.  then sprayed the opposite color on and let dry.  Scrub off salt and light pastel power application.

brown first coat worked better, now to figure out how to do the whole bridge !!!
Anybody done this before ??

    • Trying to model the BCR Fort St John BC (again)...while living in Australia (what could possibly go wrong?)

It was a special pleasure to host Andy Thomas (BCRail_FSJ) from New Zealand who is building a layout depicting Fort St. John in the 1970s.  Fort St. John is a little north of Septimus which is represented on my layout.  Andy began by running a short work train south to Chetwynd, and then ran the Septimus Turn, thus effectively operating on the subdivision he is modelling:

It was great to be back on Canadian soil with like minded BCR folk.   Well worth the 14 hour flight and look forward to coming over again in the next couple of years.

After being in a bit of a slump where my layout is concerned, I've decided on making some changes to the layout in terms of rearranging modules (Free-MoN), removing some, and adding one or two new ones. The "keystone" (see what I did there?) to these changes is this new module, which I finally started over the last couple of days. CMR's double-track lift bridge will be the feature of this module, and it's very similar to the former PRR bridge across the Ohio River here in Louisville. The bridge in Louisville spans the Portland Canal, which is the entrance to the locks on the McAlpine Dam near the Falls of the Ohio. So, I'm thinking about building the entrance to the locks as the transition between the back of the module and the backdrop. It's nice to be excited about working on my layout again. More updates to follow as I make progress.

Now it's starting to look more like southern California than eastern Washington.  We'd have sagebrush and cheatgrass.

I've been working on a GP60B that'll end up being NS (why not?  8) ) and a NS GP40-2.

The GP40-2 wasn't as simple as detailing up and spraying on some paint. I've started by replacing the nose with a 88" one from a SD60, removed the exhaust for to replace it with a silenced one, modified the dynamic brakes to match what CR had ordered, and replaced the front anticlimber with the correct one from a SD60.
