I just bought a K-4 to run on my DC layout.  I never use pulse power so that is not an issue.  The loco runs well on DC, but I have one question.  Is it possible to turn the sound "on" and "off" when you choose to do so on a DC layout?  As it is, the sound is always "on".

You would need a DCC throttle to do that unfortunately. It can run on silent mode on DC, but needs to be set to that in DCC.
