Hey guys look! Conrail's back!

This short coal train sitting in the yard had 5 Conrail hoppers together, and I knew I had to get a pic. Yes, I thinking about all you Conrail guys on here.

We had some crazy storms come through Monday.  6 confirmed EF0 tornadoes and 95mph straight line winds.  Luckily the only reported damage was trees and limbs.

After the storms passed, I caught this one starting up again heading east.  Thought it was just a cool shot with the mammatus, then realized there's an Amtrak P42 hiding in that lash-up!

This is a terrific shot and amazing composition.   At first it appears to be a shot featuring the near propane tank and signal shed (the train is just background).  But the head lights (continuing a line from the tank to the shed to the lights - all the only white features you notice) draw your attention to the  train, and then your attention proceeds back through the train and out of the frame to the left.   Really wonderful!

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Hiking in Denali this week. Sunset at 12:30 am, Sunrise at 3:20.
THIS is what woke us up this morning blaring its horn around 8:00. View from the motel room.

Jealous!  I need to go back.  I was only there once doing an Inside Passage cruise.  When I go again, I would do the Inside Passage for one week and ARR for the second week heading towards Denali.  Photography and railroading...I would be in heaven!

Wow, very awesome scenery there in AK. What happened to the top of that mountain?
I'd love to be able to afford a trip there, or even the Canadian Rockies.

There is what appears to me as a fresh land slide on the left side at the top. You can see the color change in the earth. I don't believe it to be a sun angle thing either.

Or maybe the mountain blew its top a while back?
Today we moved on to Anchorage. Great scenery, a slow ride, but who cares, see pics below.
I had a great shot all lined up in Denali Park station, and then the "orange man" walks in
Oh well, life is good anyway😎

That mountaintop looks like it was scalped! Yes, maybe a landslide, or an ancient volcano?
