2018 National Train Show/NMRA National Convention

Chatter about NTS layout plans for the August show is starting to spill over into my in-box. One bit that got my attention was the monster T-Trak layout being coordinated.

I plan to go to just the NTS if only for a day, probably Sunday. Who else is going to both or either?

Not going but this is Version 7 of the T-Trak plan.  :D  (Not sure if this is the latest.  I got it on March 26th.)

@arbomambo is spearheading the T Trak layout, along with a small committee of the dedicated.  Based on the photos he recently posted from Texas to his facebook page I'd say he's definitely not the only one who has decided T Trak can and will be a "serious" modeling enterprise.  Hopefully those of you who go can see him and congratulate him on all his hard work.

and as @MK points out - pics or it didn't happen.

He's over on Trainboard.  That's where I got the above PDF plan on the proposed T-Trak layout for the National Convention.

I'm on that layout plan :D half the side of 1 leg.  Fay Chin is doing most of the organization, but Bruce is the "voice" of TTrak now.  He is a great guy to have involved.  Ill pass along the hoorahs when i talk to him today.

TTrak is surpassing Ntrak at all shows i attend, its exploding.  People have been wait-listed for the layout. its insane.

Alright, I just paid for registration, eight nights at the hotel, and a flight to KC. Ouch$$$ :P
And I haven't signed on to any layout tours or op sessions yet.
I may not be able to afford the flight/train ride back home...
Some of my SoCal buds are going (but they are boring :D
So...who else is plqnning to go? I'd love to meet some  :ashat:'s

Absolutely. Did you price the hotel without the convention discount? $300 a night! Somebody in the organization has champagne tastes. I appreciate the concept of a central location and all that, but this thing about costly downtown venues is draining wallets of money that could and should be spent within the hobby.

I am going.

We are going as a family, so I will be in and out at the convention, only hitting limited selected things
in between family time.

We booked a hotel about 20 minutes north, nearer the airport, and were able to get a multi-room
set-up where we can all stay.

And yes, the costs of airfare, hotels, a rental car, food... make this a very expensive venture.   We combined it with a side trip we wanted to take so my son could visit a friend who moved away from Oregon last year.  Otherwise, we'd never have pulled this off.  It just so happens that trip is near enough to Kansas City that it all worked out.

But it will all be worth it when your 0-6-0 wins Best of Show.
