Jerry where in Wisconsin is that beautiful picture.

TomO in Verona

Bay View,  on the eastern edge of Milwaukee.   I am 2 miles "as the crows flies" from Lake Michigan.

Hey Jerry,

Gotta love Wisconsin weather.
I was surprised by the snow this morning where I live in Mukwonago.
I still remember the several inches of snow on May 10, 1990 when I was living in Milwaukee.

I got to operate on Bob Geralds Milwaukee road layout on Saturday. His layout will be on the tour schedule for NSE in June. Here are a couple shots of the Olympia Hiawatha running through the layout

That's a great model. Nice how it shows the typical pre-WW One look of buildings just tacked on as needed, w/o regard to matching the styles. I recognize Vulcan Mfg and some Walthers modulars -- what other kits did you use?

Can’t take credit for it. It’s a @David K. Smith creation.

THE best tutorial is by Scott Lupia, RMC May 2014.  I'm pretty certain I would not have given it a go without the well written guidance his article provides.

Beautifully done etchings!  It is very rewarding to see a fellow modeler use an article you wrote and run with it.  Welcome to the world or etching!

Well done weathering job Chris.

My covered hopper etch sheet arrive on Thursday.

I prepped the plastic shell this afternoon.

And had time to try the parts out on the B end.  Everything fit together reasonably well.  I'm pleased and encouraged to carry on.

Stunning!

That looks excellent, Steve!   I'm mildly curious if it would have been cheaper to etch multiple copies of one car as opposed to one big sheet with four cars.  I assume you used PPD?

I've been making trees every night, but nothing photography worthy yet.

I made my first ever scratch-built switch.  This here's a number 5.   My soldering needs a little work

I've gotten nothing done on the layout for the last few weeks, as I have been distracted by a search for and the purchase this weekend of a 2000 Mazda Miata.  I've wanted a two-seater convertible since my brother had a mid-1970s MG back in high school in the 1980s.  While this car is eighteen years-old and has 112,000 miles on it, it still has much better reliability than an MG, and it's in need of no work to put it on the road.  Oh, it has a few bumps and bruises, but I don't see any major rust issues.  It was a blast to drive on Saturday evening with the top down when the temperature was in the eighties.  Warmest day of the year here in the DMV in 2018 so far.  Good day to buy a convertible.  Bring on spring and summer!

Hey, @Chris333, how's your Beetle(s) coming?

Sat it was 69 degrees and I started working on it. 3 hours later it was down in the 30's.

I know!  Sunday morning at 10:15 a.m., I'm in Great Bridge, Virginia and it's 83 degrees.  Three hours later, on the drive back to Delaware, the temperature had dropped thirty-seven degrees!  Big difference between 83 degrees and 46 degrees!  The omen was the fog setting in on the Chesapeake Bay, as I crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel over to the Eastern Shore of Virginia.

After a bit more than two months, the contractor has left - with everything as good or better than before.  Now begins the long slow cleaning and testing of the layout.  Maybe we'll see trains next week...

Glad for you !
It's a long process to get thru that , hope the insurance will help you .
Thanks ,
Louis

Any idea what the distance between upper and lower levels might be??
Thanks!
