Not sure what is going on but unable to post photo as of now, as well as yesterday.  Tried expandable thumbnail, but no go.

Rare sighting of Amtrak under daylight today in Nebraska.  We caught it by chance on the way to Spring Creek Model Trains for a Free-mo weekend they're hosting.

Rumor has it a rock slide in Glennwood Springs caused the 7 hour delay.
Here the California Zepher tags on an 15 extra minutes to the delay, waiting for a slow freight at Dorchester, Nebraska.

Yuck, 7 hour delay. I guess that's better than having to back up to the last station because of a derailment down the line. That happened to me coming out of Portland, we stopped maybe 25 minutes after leaving the station. There was a lot of chatter on the conductors radio and after another 30 or so minutes they told us that we would not be continuing due to a derailment down the main line. We reversed back to Portland and they disembarked everyone. There was one passenger so upset, screaming right into the conductors face and seriously about took a swing at him. He had a clenched fist and was cocking his arm back, thank goodness that his wife was talking him down. Luckily, my then wife now ex and I were able to get a hotel for the night even though it was close to midnight and a flight home the next morning.

Aboard the California Zephyr traveling between Lincoln and San Francisco, once had a big rig take out a bridge between Provo and Salt Lake City.  Could have been a big delay, but as luck would have it, that's right about where the Eastbound and Westbound meet in the dead of night.  So the Westbound parked at Provo, Eastbound at SLC.  We each hopped on buses and motored around the damaged bridge.  The trains were turned while we made the bypass.  Everyone hopped back on our new train and continued on.  I believe we were 4-5 hours delayed by the bypass, but made it all back up by the time we arrived in Emeryville.

I don't recall hearing about that even though I live in the area. When was it, I would like to read up on it.
