Help identify this steam loco cab control please

Try not to laugh.

What is the thing I have circled in red in this photo (I borrowed this off the web because it was a photo that showed this particular control well, and I blocked out the man's image so I don't infringe on any privacy concerns).

So, what is that thing?  The power reverse control?  That would be my guess, but I have no idea.

Hi Max,

That is a brake stand - likely the locomotive brake, but possibly the train brake.

Hi Max,

That is a brake stand - likely the locomotive brake, but possibly the train brake.

I could be wrong, but I believe that's the train brake. I think the loco brake is the smaller control just above and to the left.

Ah, I see that the upper device is a lever now on second look.  Agreed, the circled lever should be train brake.

Train brake. The similar looking lever up and to the left is the Loco brakes...
