One word.... Drool! Love those "Flat Faces". One question, how does it run?

Hey Mike,

Thanks!! She runs extremely well. Very smooth and she is a great puller.

Thanks to JNS Graphics, the Little River Lumber Company now has its own company-owned locomotives. I also added some lumber and a few busy workers to finish-out the sawmill scene.

YorkRail #1500/1504 ready to pull cars out of Windsor Yard.

It's actually the Hagerstown Yard on my Hanover Sub layout.  They will have to make a visit to the "real" model of Windsor St soon  :D

    • Trying to model the BCR Fort St John BC (again)...while living in Australia (what could possibly go wrong?)

Just sketching out a trackplan for Fort St. John.   As always it would be easier if I had "just another couple of feet" to play with.

My family gifted me the KATO P42 AMTRAK Veterans unit for Christmas.  I installed a SDN144K0A 1 Amp N Scale Board Replacement SoundFX/Mobile/FX3 Function Decoder for Kato P42, E8, PA1, F40 and similar locos into the unit following instructions put together by Mike @fifer on youtube .. Mike's instructions were easy to follow ..

I made a short video .. sorry for the jumpiness .. My throttle was some distance away :)

/>

I included the keep alive capacitor .. but it still is pretty sensitive to less than perfect clean track ...

Hmm... is it a double standard when it comes to such as that with us folks crying "Foobie" if a manufacturer does something like this while we say "prototype freelancing" if we do it?

I think we call that 'modeler's license' ;)

Nice work on the detailing!   8)

I made more progress on Milwaukee Road FM H10-44  #1804
It's a Shapeways shell that fits an Atlas VO-1000 mechanism.
Lots of Archer decal details added.

Enjoyed gooning around at the Timonium Show this afternoon.
Not much railroading to report, but I have been working on some scenery...

...for the high school musical (James and the Giant Peach!)

It's just like cookie cutter benchwork!

Looks like that high school has a bigger set budget than the 2 colleges I worked for- lotta plywood in that thing.
Tom D.

I gave up rivet counting when I couldn't see an N scale rivet anymore.

Looks great. What is your process of getting the shell smooth?

Thanks
I made the mistake of ordering this in FUD. A friend of mine did one in FXD and it was a much better starting point.
*Edit*
I should have pointed out that the 3D rendering work on this model is excellent. The designer did a fine job. It's just that it didn't print smoothly in FUD.
*Edit*
The shell in FUD is a mass of crosshatch patterns.
I shaved off the louvers and door handles in order to access the flat parts and spray bombed it with rattle can auto primer that served as a guide coat and light filler in spots. I then sanded (and sanded and sanded some more) with two sided foam sanding sticks from Hobby Lobby.
I replaced the shaved off louvers, rivets and panel lines with Archer detail decals. Their HO louvers were a perfect match. The door handles are .008 wire.
Had it not been for the Archer details I probably would have scrapped the shell.
It's not a contest model but it looks ok from about 12"-18" and I'm very happy to have the FM switcher on my roster.

Is that Bowie?

They are loading race horses at Vanderbilt Stables in Glyndon, MD., headed to California and the Santa Anita Park racetrack.
