BLI vs Intermountain.

This should be good.

BLI were at the Springfield show today. I was only able to take one picture of the SD40-2 they had.

I'm no expert on these locomotives, but I hope they can fix the gaps around the dynamic brake blister.

Thanks for the pic @garethashenden

I wonder how many road-specific details BLI will pursue with these?

The relative darkness of the handrails should please a few here on TRW :-)

That gap at the front and back of the dynamic brake section doesn't make we happy. Hopefully it will be corrected by time these get to production.
The fabric of reality has begun to fray.

Looks mostly ok, fans and grabs look good, the step wells look odd but I can't put my finger on why, hopefully the gaps around the dynamic brake hatch are just pre production rough edges...

So is there going to be bashing on this model...or is that just reserved for IMRC?
Things I do not like:
The ugly silver color is not helping the cause
Several places where the handrails are fastened or not fastened
The gaps in cab, along with the non flushness of top of the cab roof.
Why is there no diamond tread plate pattern on the walkways?
The gap(s) in the db area

Now I do like the blade details in the radiator fans.

Seeing as I am happy with my IMRC units, these are a meh for me.

I'd imagine that a lot of gaps and handrail not being attached is due to handling at the show. Also note the rear handrail is bent back at 30* or so. Not the DB area though, that looks like it could be fitted better in production runs.

I too am happy with my IMRC units, and with the AC6000 issues, this is a pass for me as well.

I get that handling causes those ugliness issues...BUT...seeing as these will be under severe scrutiny, knowing that modelers would be taking pictures on posting them on internet and various forums you think BLI would be on their game..
Guess not!!
Just like when you die in Grand Theft Auto..

Oh, there is one Walthers lever mistake I see in the photo that will kill sales- the sight glass appears to be just molded as a raised line with no clear insert. It's better than the little painted on black spot Walthers did on their GP38-2, but not by much.
