Which would open the door for new releases as well being the EMDX and CAT demo paint schemes. And of course your UP and BNSF units. Oh and MRL too! The A&M units could technically be an option before delivery.

It says to "stay tuned" for the official announcement, so it feels like a regular production run.  If so, I hope they will re-run the other UP heritage units with it.

I predict that since many of the other heritage units are so hard to find today, many folks will optimistically purchase more than one 1943, thinking they'll be able to flip them for profit.  Might even work for a week or two.  But with 3 other manufacturers in play on this one, these units will become so available that folks would have a hard time giving them away by late next year. (figure of speech of course)

If FVM doesn’t change some things, it will be incorrect. Kato says they are updating their tooling, so one hopes the shell will be “correct”. BLI has only offered artwork on theirs and it being dcc/sound only will drive a segment away, and being a Trainworld exclusive I don’t think you find many at dealers. There are still lots of people that want to see before they buy.

Sadly I’m purchasing two only because NSE/FVM announced theirs and Kato had not yet, so I’ll be getting both.

Well, if you are planning two purchase two to sell one, better do it quick. After a month or so, that spike will be short lived. The UP Heritage units came out quite awhile ago and they have not shown up as much is because most purchase them to run so we'll see. I'm getting one but too run it.

Union Pacific had a MK2 class of 2-8-2's some including 1943 lasted into the 50's .

bump. KATO screwed the pooch on this model. It was pointed out 5 weeks ago that they were missing some paint/detail on the nose. They responded today stating they couldn't get it pad printed and to make a change was going to cost too much. Yet FVM version is accurate...... Chinese are greater than Japanese for painting? wow add to that one of the KATOUSA employees started telling people to go buy another product because they only cater to the 98% of people who wont care how accurate it is....... canceled all my kato orders. 2% or not, UP1943 is ICONIC and should be accurate. OH and UP accepted that its not right.......WTF......so much for their premium license. /sigh

I'm going to guess that he is talking about the stripe on top of the nose, where it should be complete all the way around. Honestly, the FVM version (whenever it actually is shipped now because of factory) isn't correct either. You can look at the end of the AC box and the box at the end is not the same. Matt did not retool from what he had whereas Kato retooled both cab and long hood.

So pick your poison. Wrong tooling or supposedly missed stripe on nose (as only pre production shots are out there currently).

I can't tell from the one pic I took at the show for sure, but the nose stripe does look to be there now. Honestly a missing stripe would be easier to replace with a decal versus chopping a long hood piece off and putting a correct on.
