Hey Paul Graf- Thanks for the Shays

Hey @Atlas Paul  I saw today that BLW says the next run of Shays is here in USA and will be shipped after the blizzard.

Last I heard, yall were having tremendous challenges to make these the way you wanted.

Haven't seen any other info anywhere else besides BLW.
So is it true?

If so, this is great news!  (keeping my fingers crossed this isn't some communication mix up).

And by the way, for anyone reading this- the revised Shays are MUCH better in my opinion than the first run.
Well worth purchasing.

The trucks are geared differently.   I don't have a new and old to compare, but I think the new ones are geared slower.   You can tell old from new by looking at the bottom of the truck.   Old has a slot that is centered.  New has slot that is off-center.

The motor is SCREWED down.  This may not affect most, but anyone who has taken apart a Shay knows that those old locking fingers would break.    :x    The new version does not have that problem.

The LED is mounted better.  Remember that crazy free-floating LED on the old version?  Gone.  Now they use a circuit board.  Much better.   The truck pick-up is soldered to one side of the board and the LED soldered to the other.

I seem to remember the crankshaft and cylinders are designed a bit differently.

There may be more changes, but I can't remember.   The worms may be designed a bit differently.

Added-
Oh.... The coupler has a retaining plate that I thought was better than the old one screw design.

I bought one from the last run and writing a technical review is one of my numerous projects (waiting to be written). I'm impressed with some changes, not so much with others and with the QC. At least in my example.

Boo to Model Train Stuff.
Who takes pictures of shays from that side?  That's worse than posing a Steam Locomotive for pictures with the rods up.

Only on Railwire do you have people complaining because a product showed up late, and also complaining when one shows up unexpectedly. You gotta love this place.

Only on Railwire?  I thought that providing an outlet for complaints was the main purpose of all the online forums.  :D

I've been looking at this engine because it is darn close to some Shays that ran around here near me in Oregon.  Although it is almost dead-on, does anybody perceive that the Atlas model is a little too long, especially through the middle where the pistons are?
Have there been threads or discussion on this?  Any drawings or other information about exactly what prototype this Shay is supposed to be?

The drawings are in the Steam Cylopedia, page 267.
