I understand that they will be based on a NYCS coach.  If that is the case, when MT does a Runner Pack of them, could we have one New York Central, one Pittsburgh and Lake Erie, one Boston and Albany and one Peoria and Eastern?

Since Peteski has made available the P&E herald, you can buy a B-mann GP-7 (if you can find one, the only place that I have seen one lately is Train World, but I have not looked there, lately), do a little eraser work and re-numbering and you can have P&E power.

The P&LE power is a bit more difficult.  Atlas has done a GP-7 in the post 1957 freight scheme.  I am disappointed that BLI did not do a PA in P&LE.  More than one  manufacturer has issued PAs.  All of them have done NYC, but none have done even one in P&LE.  I have four that I had done for me (four was all that P&LE had, plus two PA-2s)

I will be buying the B&O Runner Pack.  If I can find some era-appropriate P&LE lettering for an Athearn 2-8-0 or 2-6-0, I suppose that I could buy the H.J. Heinz cars, too. I have not bought any of those, yet.

I thought there was a whole bunch of PFE type 40 reefers, different styles and types from MTL, intermountain, Red Caboose, and others ... I remember thinking when this flood of PFE-style reefers came out that it was nice for PFE guys but nobody else. Or are you looking for wood-side ones?

Figures- Stillwell coaches, Atlas 60' baggage cars, RPOs and MT single window coaches, all at the same time.....and I am trying to remodel the basement and start on a new layout.... Maybe I can get the local congressman to include a "miniaturized intercity transportation study" in the next appropriations bill...

Well, since you are asking... how about an Type 21 tank car? 8000 and 10000 gallon versions at that. Really any variety of tank car from the 1920s and 1930s would be welcome, too.

OK, now that you have the "Baltimore and Ohio" properly located on the letterboard, how about a runner pack of the 70' baggage express cars in B&O?  Maletrain is still working on his mailtrain (#31/32).  5 cars would do it - don't need 16.

Thank you for your response, Joe.  It is really nice to know that somebody heard and considered. All too often, e-mails to manufacturers (even MTL) just seem to go into a "black hole" and nothing comes of them.  Even if MTL decides not to produce it, it is nice to know that a suggestion was actually considered. 


Having access to a forum like Railwire where we can talk to manufacterers is a real enhancement for our hobby.

Brings up the interesting question of how long defunct roads remain popular among modelers?  At one time, everyone had a favorite road...."X" and the B&O.  I guess times change.  I talked to a Kato rep who said BN has fallen off the table for BNSF, and even ATSF was down a bit.

Just wondering if N scale, presumably with more younger modelers is going generally more modern as times go on, based on sales or whatever else you guys go on to pick road names?

A heavyweight set of Crescent Limited cars would be a welcome addition to a lot of modelers collections around my area.
