How about a late, late Lark, pulled by an SDP45?
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.

SDP45...yes please!
Remember when there was misinformation that the Kato SDP40F was a SDP45? There was excitement so hopefully that spills over into a future offering.

I just voted for diesel-era 20th Century and heavyweight Lark. Both are losing badly.

Bryan,  I predict they will do both.

Probably steam first.

And then a few years later a re-release in diesel era.

With Kato’s affinity for cb&q maybe the could do the Hudson frame with an Aeolus release with a new Denver or Twin Cities Zephyr.

As a west coast modeler, I have absolutely no use for the Century, but I must admit that the Dreyfuss-styled Hudson with its train is truly an American icon that just begs to be modeled. Besides, Mr. Kato is known for his affinity to produce clean, wholesome train "sets", rather than the more usual collections of mixed cars found on majority of North American railroads. My money is on the 1938 Century, and while I'm not a collector of pretty trains, I might just make an exception. (Heck, I did buy the 1956 El Cap, even if it is too new for my era).

Still, for the life of me, I can't understand why Kato hasn't done the UP Overland or Transcon with an FFF-3 in TTG, like the one in the Howard Fogg painting below. It's nice and clean and wholesome, and they have the loco and many cars already tooled... :?

Thomas,

I had yet to see the Bachmann LaMirada attempt close up.  Please don't tell me they put a fluted roof on it. :-(
If someone gave me one and if the roof came off I'd attempt to sand it smooth.  For now it looks like the old Rivarossi's will continue as the likely observations.

If they do the Lark, hope it isn’t like their last sets, where they had dome cars, chair cars, etc. Except for the articulated diner/kitchen/lounge, it was Pullman sleepers. Even the observation car was 2-1-1, in front of the lounge.

I voted for the post 1941 Lark.  I also sent them a email requesting they do an accurate Triple Diner in two tone Grey.  The Triple Diner on the Lark was different than the one on the Daylight.  The kitchen/bunk car was on the end instead of the middle.  I hope they pick that up if they do the car.

Being a WM steam guy, I look at these things in terms of what parts might be available for kitbashing/scratch-building. The Hudson would make some cool things available, but what did the SP use to pull the 1941ish Lark?  Was that a GSx - 4-8-4?

Yes, in Daylight colors.

Can you imagine a more "wholesome" train set than this one?

I really need to pickup that set. I knew I should've gotten Dr.HB's.

I voted for the 20th Century Limited with Es with the hopes of E7s for a SP/RI Golden State Limited and the post 41 Lark being the counterpart to the Daylight.
Attempting to model a modern Southern Pacific based in 2015/2016...

Also, I have a passenger train addiction...

We all have our own agendas, sometimes not related to the released model.  :)

Lol, point made. Still, it is a bit of an exception for Kato...

If only there was the option to vote for both NYC trains.
