intermountain sd40-2 rotary beacon

Does the rotary beacon work in the Milwaukee road paint scheme (intermountain sd 40-2)?  I tried F5 per the instructions and it doesnt work.

Those LED were covered by a piece of black tape/felt on my CSX units (no beacons).  You may have to remove shell and see if those were covered up as well.

I checked with IM, here is their response. So bottomline, the beacon was not meant to work, nevertheless, a superlative model by all accounts.

"The beacon on the Milwaukee Road unit does not light up.  The LED is on the front of the decoder so is too far to the rear of the cab/hood to effectively light up the beacon.  The decoder does have the capability but one would need to run an LED to the beacon independently of the existing LED's."

I'd like to know what that covered LED is supposed to be then    Seems to be a wasted function, esp given there are two of them

Take the tape off, and add Aux 3 as additional front headlamp and Aux 4 as additional rear. Does wonders for the brightness of the IM lamps.

Since the 6 LEDs are standard on that board from ESU, maybe IM never planned anything for them
