Silicon Valley FreeMoN at Central Coast Rail Fair

Silicon Valley FreeMoN'ers rocked the California Central Coast Rail Fair in San Luis Obispo this past weekend. Four of us drove down, with a large number of modules, and we set up in an approx 55' x 25' space. Quite a lot of visitors came through.

When we first arrive, things tend to look like this

But, after a few hours, a layout (never the same way twice) emerges

Having a room all to ourselves, we were able to turn out the lights and I was able to do "night" photography on the layout

SP 3304 was making a run around the layout.

It had a fairly new companion join it, and it appears its crew was getting it ready for Halloween

Some modern freight was pulling up alongside it, too.

And, an AT&SF Super Chief was seen, pulling through the ghost town of San Felipe out in the desert

Amazing!  Did you get any video?  Those private rooms are usually wonderful for N Scale Sound as well!

I did not take any video this trip.  Was having enough fun just running! Even the photo shoot backed up the other three.

Sound was fantastic. Steve had two new IM SD40-2s, my GS-4, 2-8-2, CalTrains, etc all showed off their sounds. Spuds had his C44s.  We discussed, but never did set up our two turbines, we probably would have blasted ourselves out.

I love the high shot over the orange trees (the one with the kid in the blue shirt). There is a sense of heft in that photo that is hard to get in N scale.

LOL. That isn't a kid. Eric Eggel is our resident electrical and DCC systems expert (works at Cisco). He was just sitting on a chair against the wall. The perspective and depth of field are playing tricks. I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it.

Ha Ha, well the angle makes him look young... at glance anyway.  Seriously though, beautiful photos! I wish I had more time to finish scenery on my club modules so I could get some good photos.

Great looking setup - thanks for posting.  Judging by the shorts & tees, it's still summer in SoCal.  8)

Temps were about 90 both days.  But the A/C kept the room quite comfortable.
