Cummins is taking a page out of Fairbanks-Morse's book in developing a new opposed piston diesel engine for the Army.

Makes sense.  The FM engines were originally used in submarines, among other places, because of the higher efficiency and better weight/power ratio.   I wonder who owns the FM patents, if there are any, and if they haven't expired?

OK.  I didn't realize they were still in business under their own name.   And their homepage even brags about their Train Master locomotives!
