Some RRs did not vary their herald sizes at all,but many did.

I am wondering if any of you can tip me off on any decal sets you know, that have varying herald sizes.  This is in order to see whether they could be used for TT scale.  Boxcars of the 50s and 60s being a particular interest.

Sometimes you'll find an N scale set where the 'big'version of the RR's herald is close to the small version of the RR's herald in TT scale, or the 'small' herald in HO would do the big one in TT.

Obviously reporting marks need to be gotten together out of excess lettering, and car data too, but beggars can't be choosers and I'm not worried about whether the car data is accurate (unless it's big enough to be read.)

While the expensive answer is to get custom sets printed, I don't need to know about that so much.  I've done it, it's not a cheap option (and increasingly less available) and so I'm looking around for a little serendipity to strike  :D

Regards, Ben

I am currently doing TT Scale decals for a modeller here in Australia, as far as I am aware he is manufacturing them or involved with a Manufacturer, so far I have done several locos, boxcars and hoppers, a small amount of European, the majority of US prototypes if you pm me I can give you my email address and link you up to him.

Microscale just released a UP sheet full off different sized heralds and slogans. I'm sure they've done others as well.

Are you referring to the new "We Can Handle It" sets, 87-1531 and 60-1531? I suspect between the HO and N sets you'd get one that is close. However, it's the wrong version for '50s and '60s modeling - that particular era was "UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD" at the top of the medallion. Microscale does offer a few dozen UP decal sets covering many eras, so I suppose it would be a matter of poring through what they have.

Also a wrong UP herald for earlier cars...  It's crazy for all the UP guys, Microscales has never done a "Union Pacific System" / Overland.  It is STILL seen on many UP buildings and was very common on PFE cars.  In fact no one has yet produced this one in waterslide in N scale.
