Sames goes for a lot of the passenger trains I have. I just like them, so I have them.

Noob here. First post.

That is my conundrum. I'm just starting out in model railroading, trying to be accurate with my chosen era and railway. I would love the Turbo, and may order it anyways and to heck with accuracy. ( Besides, I like to support fellow Canucks.  )

It's a great model of a very unique train. Get it just for nostalgia. I have ordered a PC train. I like the foobie idea, too. LIRR, Pennsy, D&H, and so on.

Painted up in egg yolk and dust bunny for the Union Pacific , or better yet all silver with a UP logo as if it was doing tours to make sales . I am still out as I have a semi hard stop at the 1960 fence .

It doesn't fit mine either but I ordered the late Amtrak and I'm running it! Problem is I always liked the yellow Turbo. Don't have the money but I'm still foolishly tempted...

You could make a really really long model museum , ie siding at a station .

Just tell everyone that your second hobby is modeling historical passenger trains.

It's one of the great tragedies of North American railroad preservation that not a single TurboTrain was saved. Nothing. They were all scrapped because they were seen as too new. Everyone at the time wanted to save F-units and not a lot else. The Turbo is still the fastest production train in North America - 170.8 MPH on the PRR in 1967 and 140.6 MPH on the CN in 1976. If you love the Turbo like I do, you should definitely put one on a museum track if you don't have a need to run it.

Some people have criticized Rapido for spending money on railway preservation. I was seven years old when the last Turbo was retired. When I became an adult I was determined to do my part to save the trains I love. So we spearheaded the saving of LRC 6917, we are restoring an old VIA sleeping car, and last year, at the "spur of the moment," we saved an RDC that was about to be scrapped. We couldn't let all the RDCs stored in Moncton be junked. Info on the RDC and Edmundston can be found here:

My wife, Sidura, is a saint. In 2010 the recession was in full swing and we were completely broke. VIA gave the TRHA a week and said they had to put a $3000 deposit on 6917 or it would be scrapped. The TRHA did not yet have a bank account. Sidura agreed to take $3000 from our line of credit and give it to VIA to save 6917.

I wish we could save more, but Rapido only has the budget to work on a couple of full-size projects at once. When 6133 and Edmundston are no longer costing us many arms and legs, we will look to see what other pieces of Canadian passenger train history we can save.
