But, later, when I was running one of my HO scale trains up top, she wanted to play with a locomotive with sound, and she was jamming on the bell and the horn. Uh oh, fellas! DFF
haha foam depot lives!
That's great! Nice job, Dad. Maybe a crossing with manually triggered bell would appease the sound gods for now. Let her populate it as she will, scale be damned. I don't think younger folks necessarily see things the same in that area. And she can redo it time and again as her imagination lights off in another direction. If well intentioned inputs become perceived as dictates it makes it not hers. Part of the tough job of being a Dad.
I doubt that I want to go for the expense of other accessories for lights and sound, because I don't know how much or how long she'll be interested in this layout or trains. Besides, I've got my own layout to build, and the hobby budget can only stretch so far. We'll see how this goes. Thanks,DFF

Building that layout sparked my interest to change focus and style of what I want to do..
Peteski: We have a CRT TV as well. No need for a big-screen, as we can't get far enough from it to see the big picture... Ours is a 13 inch. Cost us $99, years ago, when the flat screens were first becoming popular.
She likes DKS's design and wants the mountain, road, and river just as he laid it out. I'll admit that those Smurf houses are almost perfect for this layout. We wish we had one or two more.
My now ex-wife and I bought a 34"CRT TV about three years before our divorce. She still has it 13+ years later and the picture quality is outstanding ! However, it takes two very strong young men to move it.
