Made it to the Crescent City Model Railroad Club summer open house in Metairie Louisiana today. First time I've been to the club since 1992.

Making headway on the C855B:



Sand boxes are a test fit at the moment, as they took a little bit of carving. Getting the gray on the lower extremities will be an exercise in intense masking, made even more difficult by making sure there is yellow under the red striping (when we get there).

As mentioned in my layout thread last week, the mechanicals are performing nicely after a motor swap and a little bit of tuning. This thing is a stump puller, 40+ cars up a 2% grade. The added weight of the chassis extender seems to make a difference, although the original U50 it was made from wasn't a slouch, either.

Next process will likely be the headlights, since detailing is going to work against handling.

That is Youngstown under the Center St. bridge    Now just the CSX and NS crossing at one time it was PRR, B&O, P&LE,and Erie. At one time the busiest (non interlocked) crossing in the US.

What was the method of control if it was non interlocked?

Was it manual? or do you mean it was an automatic interlocking and not a locally/remotely controlled one?

Yes... certainly has that gritty, west Santa Clara Valley feel to it. One question, tho' - you planning on modeling the flower groves to the east?

Just a little progress on AC&J 107.  The footboards were removed and replaced with a couple strips of styrene.  I also put the radiator shutters on after paint and painted the ends of the railings.  Sorry for the cell phone photos, it's all I have.

I haven't posted in months due to Photobucket being such a pain even though I have finished a number of structures recently.  Currently on the workbench is Upper and Lower Wacker Drive to go along the Chicago River.  With the exception of the Rix railings it will be all scratch built of Evergreen styrene.  Here it is at about the halfway point.

This is my first time using the Railwire Gallery.  All of the photos were right side up in the album on my computer but when I uploaded the second two they came out upside down.  I selected 'edit' but it was just a loop that went nowhere. Also I can't post anything except thumbnails. Any help with my learning curve will be appreciated since I am done with Photobucket.

This week saw a new addition to the fleet: a future menace to local railroads, starting with the NCR. The Conrail Track Geometry car (from the N Scale Enthusiast).



This should make ops sessions fun...
