Looking for new Badger 200 -- or what about the warranty?

I'm sorta torn between buying a new airbrush to replace my old (w/ aluminum unpainted), battered and cranky Badger 200 or sending it back to the factory for rebuilding. Has anybody done that? They might have to replace everything but the body, which could get expensive. Otherwise, where could I get a new one for a decent price? BLW and MBK don't stock them.

I had my Badger 200 (with blue anodized rear body) for over 30 years and it still works well. The only things I replaced were the Teflon seals (the one in the nozzle and one for the needle.  But I keep it impeccably clean, so there is no curd buildup in it.

It is best to look for new airbrushes in arts/crafts stores (like Michael's or even Hobby Lobby). Few years ago Micheal's was dumping old models of Badger airbrushed (including the 200) and I bought one at a fire-sale price.  So I have a spare. At that time I also bought another newer one at a really good sale price: Model 155 Anthem.  Nice double-action airbrush.  Bu I also noticed that the newer airbrushes include more plastic accessories (which in the past were metal), so like everything else around us - things are getting cheapened.

If you have Michael's store around you can usually find a 40% off coupon. That maike the price of a new airbrush more palatable if you buy one there.

That photo shows exactly what I mean. The paint bottle hardware is all plastic now. Gone is the nicely machined head with a tapered brass fitting that plugs into the airbrush. It is all just a piece of thick nylon tube!

I also do not use that "standard" thick air hose. Instead, I use the very thin black rubber tubing hose Badger also sells (or used to sell). It is much lighter and more flexible than the "monster" Badger hose.

I used to have that brush but I now prefer a brush with gravity feed cup. Especially works better with acrylics.

I have no relation, just popped up when I did a search.  So I have no idea what they have in stock, or how they are to deal with.  I do have an old badger 200 stashed away somewhere and the conversation got me thinking about it.

I have a few Iwata airbrushes and picked this one up a couple of years ago specifically for use with thicker Acrylics. 
Very nice brush built with Iwata quality and at a fair introductory price.

That was back when I simply went to my local friendly hobby shop and ordered the parts through them. The shop is long closed.  But now, with Interwebs I suspect that you can order the parts online directly from Badger (or some other discount website).

Amazon usually has really, really good pricing on Badger products. If not this week then next. Bought a 360 for under $100, and a 350 for $15 shipped.

Pete, years ago when Badger was still doing the Springfield show I brought up the plastic vs metal parts. While some of it was to reduce costs (the plastic needle protector cap vs the metal one), the bottle was actually to extend the life of the model: the metal feeder could scratch the chrome plating leading to corrosion, and the feeder tube is much easier to clean and less prone to caking.

That 350 though: plastic fantastic.

One thing I do appreciate from Badger: they are stubbornly an American manufacturer. They will never produce any of their mid-to-high range models in China. In fact, I think even the 250 is made here.

Or, you can send the Badger back to the company for $12 shipping, and they'll recondition it and add any new parts for a bulk-rate cost of the parts. The parts price would be the only thing above the basic $12. I was hoping somebody had sent a grundged-out airbrush back to Badger and then tell me how good a rebuild they did, but I guess nobody's done that.

I sent my Badger purchased in 1976 back to them under the warranty in 2015. The shipping was prepaid at $12 and the reconditioning was less then $20 which I paid after they sent me the airbrush back, the bill was with the brush. They even sent back the parts they replaced. Very happy.
