Markus Schiavo sent the N Scale Vehicle Association's Yahoo Group a link to this Wiking announcement:

https://www.wiking.de/en/wikingmodellpflege/john-deere-8430-1622.html

The Wiking N scale version of the John Deere 8430 was originally released several years ago, but was not distributed in North America.  However, the prototype is used extensively in North America, and was manufactured in the US from 2006 through 2009.

These tractors make great flat car loads (typically OTTX flatcars) in addition to parking them at a John Deere dealer, a farmstead, or in a field.  http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2471480

If they do a 4020, I'll buy 40 of them.

Amen! Best damn tractor ever built. All the 20 series were pretty good. I grew up on 4020s, 4320s, and 3020s.

Gary,

I bought some from DM Toys in 2012.  They were 7.99 Euro at that time.  I am guessing we will see a price increase of 0.50 to 1.00 Euro with this release.

If someone like MB Klein would import them direct from Germany, I would think they could sell them for less than $10.00 US.  I am thinking this because MB Klein discounted the Lemke vehicles to the point they were less expensive from MB Klein than they were if one purchased them direct from Germany.  I am sure avoiding the Value Added Tax is what allowed MB Klein to offer competitive pricing.

I should also mention that in April Wiking announced the re-release of the John Deere 6920S.  These tractors were marketed as the 7820 7520 in North America.

https://www.wiking.de/en/wikingmodellpflege/john-deere-6820-1601.html

Walthers did import these tractors in large quantities, but most hobby shops in the U.S. have been sold out of these tractors for awhile now.  The current price for the new" Wiking JD 6820S is 7.49 Euro.

Jason,

While I would not hold my breath waiting for Wiking to release a JD 4020, you might check with Walter Vail of Showcase Miniatures.  He is definitely considering producing a farm tractor, so I would email him to let him know what you want and how many.

Contact information is available on their home page, of course.  https://www.showcaseminiatures.net/
