ESM — Made In America Low Side Gondola reservations

I emailed my order to the listed address. I hope it was received because I didn't see an acknowledgement. I like to see a verification that an order (or reservation) has been received and not ended up in a SPAM folder.

I guess I should have set up a verification reply email, sorry about that. I will try to do that retroactively. Yes, the reservations are being logged.

I have no doubt that the listed price is reasonable for a limited edition car designed for a very specific audience.

My original comment was intended only to say that $40.00 is more than I am willing to pay for any single freight car regardless of how wonderful it might be!

I hope you sell all of them and I likewise hope those who purchase them are happy for having done so.

Yeah, I seem to recall that too. He even drew up the mold patterns.   I was surprised that the final version has 3D-printed parts.  I suspect that the surface finish won't be as smooth as resin castings.

The original plan was to produce resin castings from a rapid prototype master.  But I lost my casting source and was forced to go to Plan B, redesigning the kit for rapid prototype production.  The surface finish is very good since Shapeways is printing the parts in the orientation that I specify, and the orientation of the parts in relation to both the print head and the print tray allows for maximum resolution on the visible surfaces.  I'm very pleased with the end results.

Well, this is ESM's third kit, following the Keyser Valley Caboose and the G32C Gondola.  I'm liking the make-to-order aspect of the LSG kit, and that's the method we will utilize moving forward.  Buying the decals and OEM detail parts in bulk quantities won't make or break a project ... but extra etchings, castings and rapid prototype components can be costly.

Hopefully the 8k gallon acid tankcar is next, in the fall.

Soo line ran a Sault Ste Marie to Schiller Park time freight 911/912 (with a Gladstone to Minneapolis connection 909/910) from at least the 1930's to the WC split.  Due to the CP connection both trains were heavy with New England traffic, mostly newsprint but I'm using it as a justification that these cars could have wound up out west.  Would be happy to find photographic evidence tho...
